6 Top Tips to help you plan and postpone your wedding around Coronavirus
Ok we know you’re panicking. Your wedding is ruined, the dreams are over. That’s what we thought initially too. But sometimes in dire situations come the most amazing outcomes, and certainly with Coronavirus this seems to be happening. Since contacting our couples last week we have seen nothing but positivity and optimism and we cannot thank you all enough. So we felt it best to share our tips we’ve been telling our couples with anyone and everyone who may need them. Here are our top 6 tips for clarity and organisation in these troubling times.
1. Contact everyone involved in your wedding. Be that guests or suppliers. Whether you’re cancelling, postponing or choosing to continue, just keep everyone updated on the current plan. Things are changing daily, so these plans may too. Let everyone know where your head is at now.
2. Do not think that you will be thousands of pounds out of pocket if you change the date of your wedding. Obviously we can’t promise this but the general consensus seems to be that contracts and terms and conditions are flexible with most suppliers- with most being happy for you to change dates with no or little extra cost. You must remember that not only would you be losing out on your dream day, many suppliers will be losing out on their income. We are all here to make your big day happen.
3. The other thing that may be worrying you is that your suppliers will now be booked up on your potential new dates. Again we can’t guarantee this won’t happen. But remember, most suppliers (like us photographers) are connected to a wide platform other suppliers, who now will all be readily available for work. For our couples we can safely say if we can’t shoot your wedding we can certainly find someone we trust to shoot it for you.
4. For some couples they have put aside their wedding budget and their jobs will not be hugely affected during this virus. However do remember that a lot of your suppliers and completely freelance and so will have little to no income now. If you have managed to arrange a new date consider discussing paying your final balance early or on the original date to help keep small businesses afloat.
5. We are finding that most of our early summer couples who are concerned about their dates are choosing to rebook for later this year (Sept-Dec) So what would normally be a quieter time in wedding season is now going to be very busy. If you are thinking of choosing a 2020 winter wedding date, get moving fast before all the dates are gone.
6. With the point above in mind do remember that winter weddings are very different to summer weddings, and it will be well worth looking at your timings and locations before confirming anything. (Our next blog post will focus on this!)
Hopefully that has given you some insight about how you can calmly manage your wedding during these unsettling times. If you are a bride or groom who is worried about your wedding don’t hesitate to get in touch (even if we’re not shooting your wedding!) Contact us here, we’re here to help!
