What To Do When Your Dream Wedding Turns Into A Disaster?
People always ask us, what is the most crazy wedding you’ve ever been to, and we never really had a good story to tell. Well that was until last summer and Holly & Charlies’ wedding.
Holly & Charles had planned a church ceremony in their home village of Bosham with the reception being held around the corner at a local farm. Holly & Charles had rented out a field on the farm for a marquee and had spent most of the previous evening styling it to perfection.
However, the British weather had decided that that wasn’t going to be and during the night before their wedding winds had reached highs of 50mph and torn their marquee down.
With all hands on board, family, friends and local villagers clambered to get all the tableware and decorations into the safety of a barn. The first we heard of Holly & Charles disaster was when Holly emailed at 4am explaining everything that had happened, at that point she had left Charlie and the groomsmen sorting out a plan as she was just going to bed. (Can you imagine 4am the night before your wedding!)
We arrived at bridal prep together where we were told about the incredible work that had been done on the barn overnight. But seeing it was something else all together. 3 combine harvesters moved, 50 tonnes of grains moved and a wall of hale bales created, and voila a new wedding reception venue!
Unbelievably everyone made it to the wedding in one piece and in fantastic spirits, and although the wind did not let down (see Holly’s veil) everyone giggled and smiled their way through.
So here is the barn, 24 hours before this a completely full storage barn for the farm. But with a little bit of magic and a lot of hard work it was turned into this beautiful rustic reception (with build in kitchen to the side as well!)
Holly & Charlie’s wedding really does prove that no matter what happens to your day as long as your family and friends are with you you will have the most perfect day. Not as they planned, but possibly even more special. If you’re planning on having a stress free wedding day, read our blog all about it (although we cannot guarantee marquees staying up!)
