Top 6 Best Herts/Beds/Bucks Wedding Venues.
We love a good wedding venue and over our last 5 years of shooting we’ve managed to get to know quite a few. One of our specialised areas is Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the surrounding Home Counties. (This is because this is where Stephanie is based)! Although it isn’t essential at all, it is helpful if we have shot at a venue before. We’ll know the good spots for photos and understand how the staff work to ensure your day runs as smoothly as possible. Below are a couple of our favourites.
Eggington House
We first got to shoot here at Charlotte & Tazz’s wedding over the August Bank holiday in 2018. Eggington is a private house which only holds around 12 weddings a year. (When we hear things that like it makes us cheer!) You have the option of using the gorgeous house for bridal prep in the morning with the main reception in a marquee in the back garden. The walled garden gives a perfect background to a summer garden party style wedding.
Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire is a beautiful grade II listed country house. We first shot there for Lucy & James August wedding in 2017. The all white entrance hall can be used for a ceremony and reception. Chic and luxe, Chicheley’s interiors and very light (great for us photographers!) And if you have lots of guests there is plenty of accommodation on sight.
Hinwick is based in North Bedfordshire and is an amazing Grade I listed country house. What we love about Hinwick is that you get the whole run of the house for your day, so plenty of space for your guests to spread out. Hinwick looks extra amazing during the autumn with the colourful trees as we experienced at Sam & Ollie’s November 2017 wedding.
Ok, so we’re cheating a little bit with this one. Barston Lodge is technically Essex being just outside Bishop Stortford, but we had to include it. Barnston is a gorgeous privately owned Georgian house which is set within its own gardens and a lake. You have complete access to the grounds to do what you wish with. In August 2017 Torty & Tom (& Piglet the sausage dog) turned Barnston’s grounds into an incredible Scottish funfair with a marquee that fit 180 guests! We’re excited to be back at Barnston for another wedding in 2020.
Now if you’re looking for grandeur and elegance you can’t beat Stowe House. Based in Buckinghamshire the National Trust property is truly stunning. Back in May 2017 Beth & Matt chose Stowe as their wedding venue, using the incredible Marble Saloon for their ceremony. (Just look at it!) With hundreds of aces of National Trust gardens you certainly won’t struggle with photo opportunities.
Now if you’re looking for something a little more modern, The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire is the one. The Hotel boast a large variety of ceremony rooms including the outside gardens, but ive you’ve got a large party, the Cedar Suit is the one to go for. Louise & Joe held their Jew-ish wedding at The Grove Hotel in 2019, we had so much fun, we’d love to go back soon!
