Wedding Albums: Q&A
It’s wedding album season! So after asking on our instagram stories for your questions on wedding albums we thought we’d write a full Q&A blog post on everything you need to know about wedding albums.
Why would I want a wedding album? Are they not old fashioned?
Old fashioned? Hell no! If we look back to our parent’s wedding albums then yes, they do look super dated, but wedding albums have come a long way since the 80’s and now they are super chic and matte printed.
We love shooting weddings for our clients, but there is always a slight worry that you look through the images on your USB or online gallery and then kind of forget about the images until your anniversary each year when you might remember to get the dusty USB out again. Having a beautifully designed coffee table book ready to open and see your favourite images whenever you want is so much more special to us.
Can I pick my own photos?
Yes of course! Why would we pick your wedding album photos, that seems crazy to us! We suggest you pick around 50-60 images otherwise the album starts looking too cramped. If you have too many that you can’t choose from then we can always add extra spreads. Just remember the album has to flow and make sense so pick a variety of images that you would love to keep looking back on time and time again.
Do I get a say in how the album looks?
Again, yes! Once you’ve picked your favourite images we make an initial design of the layout. We then digitally send it to you where you can make suggestions on layout changes or image changes. It’s all with very fancy software which makes it super simple! You keep making changes until you’re entirely happy with the design.
How much are they?
Our albums start at £450 for a 10x10. Our post popular size is the 12x12 which is £500. We also sell parent albums which are 6x6 dupes of a main album and are £200 each. We ask for a 50% deposit upfront and the remainder to be paid when the album is finished.
I am worried that you’ve designed a page with a photo that cuts down the middle seam?
We know, this seems crazy. Won’t the image be eaten up by the seam and look distorted? Don’t worry our albums all lie completely flat when opened. So no images will be eaten by the seam!
How long does it take to make an album?
Depending on how many changes you want to make on design it usually takes a couple of weeks to design and then around four weeks to print and be sent out to you. So all in all, between 6-8 weeks total process.
How does my album arrive?
Just have a look at the video we made below…
Can I decide to order my album later after my wedding?
Of course, you can order your album any time. Some clients choose to pay for and album upfront or put a deposit down. Some choose to order an album a year after their wedding. Our only suggestion is we find couples are better at getting it designed, images chosen and designs finalised when they do it straight after the wedding, because they are still in ‘wedding-mode’. Christmas is a very popular time for album designs, so if you want to buy one as a christmas present do let us know in September or October if possible. The printing deadline for Christmas albums is usually the end of November.
What are the parent albums?
Parent albums are mini 6x6 dupes of a main album and are perfect presents for parents whether it’s to say thank you or as a christmas gift. If you’re ordering a main album do let us know if you’re interested in a mini version.
A reminder the 2020 deadline for Christmas albums is 23rd November
Hopefully that answered some of your album questions, but if you have any more just drop us an email or DM on Instagram, we’ll be happy to answer any more questions.
